Japanese Alps?

Hi everyone,
I will be in Atsugi in May 31st until the 10th. With that in mind, I am thinkg on perhaps going to the Japanese Alps for 3 or 4 days. Perhaps got to Nagoya and from there to Takayama and Kamicochi.
Any ideas on how to get the Kamicochi and whether not this is a good trip combination?

definitely go - Kamikochi is one of the most spectacular areas in japan
