Attractions from Osaka to Fukuoka 2012/5/31 19:01
Will travel in Autumn to see Fall Foliage along Kyushu and Osaka/Kyoto for 10 days.Plan to rented car from Osaka and return it at same location.

Highly apprecaited if anyone kindly suggest places to visit along the routes and the good hot spring areas/resorts .

Are still consider rent the car at Fukuoka and return it at Osaka airport but the drop off charge is quite high about 35% of total 10 days cost therefore may start and return at Osaka airport and wonder how much will be the toll from Fukooka to Osaka whether it may be more reasonable to travel one direction.

Kindly please advice, thank you very much

Phim (Bkk, Thailand)

FYI just returning from 12 days driving in Chubu region covered 8 prefectures and had an excellent trip of self driving for seeing more of flowers blooming ,met good locals and visited more small villages and experienced great onsen .Have to thank those that help me from Japan guide Forum for this pleasant and memorable trip thus make our gang like to start another trip to Japan soon especially seeing Fall Foliage.

toll should be around 12,400 yen one way. What places are you planning to visit along the way? The Inland Sea coastal area is fairly populated with plenty of transportation options, so a car might not make much sense.

If you want to see hot springs as well as the fall colors, I would recommend you see Akitsuki
in Fukuoka, and then visit the hot springs in Beppu and Yufuin.
Akitsuki is famous in Kyushu for its fall colors and is sometimes called a "little Kyoto". You can see some footage of it at

You'll find all the hot springs you could dream of in Oita, and the Beppu Hell Tour is also a nice way to spend about 2-3 hours.
