Jr sanyo-shikoky-northern kyushu to Mt.Aso

Aso station is the area covered by the pass but the pass is not valid kumamoto. How I can use to go to Mt. aso, If I will be traveling from hakata station.Can the northern version be used shinkansen tsubame?

North Kyushu version is VALID until Kumamoto station.

and Aso is located between Kumamoto and Oita.
