Can JR Rail Pass be used on Shikoku buses?

I'm looking for the best and cheapest way to get from Kochi to Matsuyama. I've found that If I get the JR Shikoku's Ningoku Express bus then it takes 2-3 hous less than the train does. Any help would be appreciated
