how to book a lodging nearby Tottori Sakyu 2012/8/21 18:28
Hello all,

I have been contacting all lodging that are supposedly on a walking distance to the Tottori Sakyu (sand dunes)by email.

But none of them replied. Is this because they do not entertain bookings in English?

How do I go about booking a lodging close to the Tottori Sand dunes? Please help.

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had taken a look at that link before but those hotels listed are near to Tottori City.

I am looking for those that we can walk to the sand dunes within minutes. Someone had given me a link to those hotels but they are all in Japanese. When I emailed them in English, they never replied.

If you have waited a few days and still no response perhaps compose a simple message in English and post it in the language forum and hopefully someone will be kind enough to assist you in translating it so you can send it in Japanese. Keep it as short as possible.

Either that or possibly ask your hotel slightly earlier in your trip (with hopefully better English skills) to phone and make a reservation for you once you arrive in Japan.

I suppose you have already tried the following.
http://www.sakyu-daisen.jp/sakyu/hotel/index.html
email: hotel-sakyu@sakyu-daisen.jp

Note that the place is also listed on Rakuten site. Unfortunately it is not on their English site. Try sending an email to Rakuten and see whether they can help.

email: www@mail.travel.rakuten.co.jp

Don't know whether you have seen the list below but you can also make enquiry through the following email addresses to ask for help.

email: kankou@pref.tottori.jp (Tottori Prefecture Culture and Tourism Bureau)
email: kikaku@city.tottori.lg.jp (Tottori City Planning Regulation Division)

GC3 and William 5,
Thanks for the info. I had looked at the links, email the hotel-sakyu, but an automated response came saying they would reply in 2 days' time (in Japanese language). In reality, no reply after 10 days.

Thanks for the other links though.
