Shimanami Kaido in a day

I am thinking about doing the whole Shimanami Kaido in a day from Onomichi to Imabari using bus and foot . Can i go up and down the bus and wallk some part of the way? I will arrive to Onomichi from Hiroshima and going to Matsuyama.

Is there a specific reason you don't wish to use a bike? You can rent one at the start and drop it off at any of the bike stations along the way.

I guess you can walk, just bear in mind that the Shimanami Kaido is 60+ km long.

I would rent a bike at Onomichi, drop it off at maybe Omishima bike terminal and then take the highway bus from there.
