Night Train without JPR? - Kyoto-Tokyo 2012/10/17 03:53
Dear all,

i do not have a Japan Rail Pass as i am planning to do only one major train ride - from Kyoto (or Osaka) to Tokyo. ILd like to take the night train.

a) What is the night train called? Is it ''Sunrise Seto'' / ''Sunrise Isumo" by any chance?
b) Where can i find a schedule/ timetable for this train?
b) Does the night train stops in Osaka/Kyoto at all? Do I have to leave from other cities?
c) How much is a single trip in the ceapest (carpet bed?) or second cheapest (single bed?) category?
d) How do I book my trainticket? Is it possible to book on-line?
c) Are trains less croweded on certain days / is it easier to book tickets on certain days (e.g. saturday or sunday)?

Your help is very much appreciated. Many thanks!!

In short, take a night bus instead of night train.
