We are planning Osaka-Kyoto-Takayama-Shiragawa trip between 28-Nov to 3-Dec.
Will I still able to catch nice koyo if I am reaching Kyoto on 28th Nov 2012?

And need some advice if it is better to change the travel date to Nov 14-23?

This is difficult to predict. November 14 will likely be too early in most places. Depending on the temperatures of the upcoming two weeks, November 28 could still be peak or it could already be a little late. I would choose November 28 over November 14, but I am not sure whether I would prefer November 28 over November 23.

Yes, you still can view the momiji "burning" even on 28th November. Just ensure you visit the Eikando and Kurama-dera.

It is likely to be still peak time.

I recommend to consult the local tourism information desk on the day itself. It is too difficult to predict now.

No. I even recommend to avoid buses and use your feet and rail bound transportation as much as possible instead. Buses tend to be slow, packed and surprisingly infrequent (which is part of the reason why they are packed).

@uji: if there are good JR train connections within kyoto to famous temples then we are taking the train instead of busses. :)

in 2010 i only took busses to the major temples.

As I understand it there ISN'T good JR train coverage in Kyoto, with respect to temples and other major sites.

Final schedule is to spend Nov 18-22 in Kyoto.

May I know if it is good idea to visit Takayama between Nov 15-17? Planning to go to Shiragawa-ko and Okuhida from Takayama. Hope it is still nice view.
