Travel from Hakodate to Asahikawa 2012/11/1 12:02
Can I go to Asahikawa from Hakodate by JR?
On 28 Dec 12, we plan to visit hakodate, then wanna go to Noboribetsu and stay there, continue to Asahikawa, but I checked not so many hotels there, so we plan to stay at Hakodate, then noboribetsu, back to hakodate, then go to Asahikawa, stay there for 1night, continue to Sounkyo, after that go to Sapporo.
all of the journey, we plan to visit by JR.
any references website?
Thanks-Lan Fa

Yes.

Seems a little awkward. Perhaps you could go Hakodate - Noboribetsu - Sapporo - Asahikawa?

See map

then go to Asahikawa, stay there for 1night, continue to Sounkyo, after that go to Sapporo.

Seems fine.

all of the journey, we plan to visit by JR.

Seems fine except for Sounkyo which needs some buses.

any references website?

To go to Noboribetsu from Hakodate and then back to Hakodate before going up to Asahikawa would mean a lot of unnecessary travelling back and forth, not a very good use of limited visiting time.

Are you saying all the hotels in Noboribetsu are fully booked up!? If it is really the case have you look into Toya-ko which is another popular destination not far from Noboribetsu.

If you don't want to stay in expensive onsen hotels, consider going up to Sapporo after Noboribetsu. There are lots of budget business hotels to choose from there.

Note that there is no train going into Sounkyo. You have to take a bus from Asahikawa. Also for Noboribetsu and Toya-ko, upon arriving by JR you still have to take a short connecting bus to go into town.

Use the following site to check on train schedule.

Thanks for the respons from both of you. your suggestion would be my highly consideration, yes we feel awkward too, for the back & fold from Asahikawa to Sapporo, since We are going back to Jakarta from Tokyo, so We think it's gonna be fine if we go up first (Asahikawa) then we go down to sapporo then go to tokyo directly from there.
Then again thank you very much.
