Stopover to New Zealand: 3 or 5 days Tokyo

Hi,

We are travelling to New Zealand with 2 kids (3.5 and 1.5 years old). We plan a stop over in Tokyo. Due to flight schedules it will be 3 or 5 days (full days in Tokyo, so we arrive 1 day before and leave 1 day after).

I am not sure what to do: Spend some extra time in Tokyo or use my 2 extra days in New Zealand (where we will be 5 weeks.)

Difficult question, just wanted to get an idea whether 3 days would be sufficient or better do 5 days..
(we consider one day of Disney park, because of the kids)

I have spent the last ten years intensively travelling Japan, and I still can't get enough of it. I would go for 5 days.
