5 days in Osaka, any fun places to visit?

Hello! My bf and I will be visiting Osaka during mid December, was wondering if there are any recommendations on fun places to visit near Osaka? We will be spending one day in Kyoto as well.

Also, would like to know whether there are any famous onsen near Osaka/Kyoto? We already have booked our room in Osaka, so we hope to find some onsen that we can go during daytime? Also are there any good ones w/ private onsen?
