A regular JR cost for Tennoji -- Kanazawa and Takayama -- Shin-Osaka of your itinerary is estimated at 17250 yen.
The other rail cost is estimated at 3280 yen
if you take Nankai Ltd. Express "Rapi:t Beta" trains to and from Namba
and use subway for Namba -- Tennoji and Shin-Osaka -- Namba.
You can cut the latter rail cost to 2460 yen
if you take JR-West Ltd. Express "Haruka" trains with one-way tickets in a roundtrip ICOCA & Haruka package
and set your second Osaka accommodation near Shin-Osaka.
(The accommodation cost may be higher, though.)
Note that Shinkansen trains / Ltd. Express "Haruka" trains do not use Osaka Station or JR-Namba Station.
Anyway, a nationwide Japan Rail Pass cannot be a good deal.
And, I suppose none of the three JR-West Rail Passes can pay off.
