Nankai train from Kaisai airport to Osaka

As Uji mentioned this is not possible but you have other options using JR which would be covered by the JR Pass depending on where you go in Osaka. Usually using JR Haruka or JR Airport Rapid trains.

Can you post the rest of your itinerary including dates?

I assume you realise that all of the above would not pay off if that is all you do using a JR Pass, even if you were to return from Nagoya to Osaka to Kansai Airport.

Enjoy your trip!

We will arrival Kansai airport on 18 jan. 2013.

And where do you go after Nagoya?

Our hotel near namba subway.

If you have a JR Pass you can take the Haruka or JR Kansai Airport Rapid train to Tennoji Station. Both are covered by the JR Pass. At Tennoji transfer to the Midosuji Subway line for Namba Subway Station, 230 yen, 7 minutes, not covered.

Re: JR pass 2012/12/22 23:41
JR Pass is much more expensive than standard ticket for this itinerary.

I personally do not recommend to change your hotel so frequently.

18 jan'13 kansai airport to Osaka
19 jan'13 Osaka
20 jan'13 Osaka to Kanazawa
21 jan''13 Kanazawa to shirakawago-takayama 22'jan'13 takayama to Nagoya
23'jan13 Nagoya to Kyoto
25 jan'13 Kansai airport

Or you can skip Nagoya and add Nara or Hikone castle (day trip from Kyoto) .

18 jan'13 kansai airport to Osaka

900 yen or so.

19 jan'13 Osaka to Kyoto

540 yen.

20 jan'13 Kyoto to Kanazawa

6200 yen.

21 jan''13 Kanazawa to shirakawago-takayama

4200 yen (not covered by JR Pass)

22'jan'13 takayama to Nagoya

5360 yen.

23'jan13 Nagoya to Osaka

5670 yen by JR or 3700-4150 yen by Kintetsu.

25 jan'13 Kansai airport

900 yen or so.

If we buy jr pass it is cheaper

Individual tickets = 19570 + 4200 yen for Shirakawago bus.
JR Pass = 28300 + 4200 yen for Shirakawago bus.

Individual is therefore significantly cheaper.

You could also reduce your transport costs by using Kintetsu from Nagoya to Osaka, and by taking the bus from Takayama to Nagoya, and bus from Kyoto to Kanazawa also if you wish.

Re: JR pass 2012/12/23 03:00
A regular JR cost for Tennoji -- Kanazawa and Takayama -- Shin-Osaka of your itinerary is estimated at 17250 yen.
The other rail cost is estimated at 3280 yen
if you take Nankai Ltd. Express "Rapi:t Beta" trains to and from Namba
and use subway for Namba -- Tennoji and Shin-Osaka -- Namba.
You can cut the latter rail cost to 2460 yen
if you take JR-West Ltd. Express "Haruka" trains with one-way tickets in a roundtrip ICOCA & Haruka package
and set your second Osaka accommodation near Shin-Osaka.
(The accommodation cost may be higher, though.)
Note that Shinkansen trains / Ltd. Express "Haruka" trains do not use Osaka Station or JR-Namba Station.

Anyway, a nationwide Japan Rail Pass cannot be a good deal.
And, I suppose none of the three JR-West Rail Passes can pay off.

{Regular JR cost: 17250 yen}
4620 yen as a base fare
: Tennoji -- Osaka -- Kyoto -- Kanazawa;
vaild for 2 days from 19 through 20 January.
2620 yen as a Ltd. Express charge for "Thunderbird"
: Kyoto -- Kanazawa.
6090 yen as a base fare
: Takayama -- Nagoya -- Kyoto -- Shin-Osaka;
vaild for 3 days from 22 through 24 January.
1200 yen as a Ltd. Express charge for "(Wide View) Hida"
after Shinkansen connection discount
: Takayama -- Nagoya.
2720 yen as a Shinkansen charge for "Hikari"
: Nagoya -- Shin-Osaka.

{The other rail cost for the main route: 2460 to 2960 yen}
2000 yen for one-way tickets in a roundtrip ICOCA & Haruka package
- http://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/travel-information/pass/icoca-haruka...
: Kansai-airport -- Tennoji, Shin-Osaka or Tennoji -- Kansai-airport.
460 yen as base fares of Osaka municipal subway
: Tennoji -- Namba, Namba -- Tennoji.
500 yen as base fares of Osaka municipal subway
(if you stay in the same Osaka hotel)
: Shin-Osaka -- Namba, Namba -- Tennoji.
