how do i use the kyoto sightseeing card?

i know that the 1 day bus pass is stamped on the first trip and then shown to the driver after that. Is it the same for the sightseeing card?

and how does it work on the subways? do you swipe it, put it into the machine or show it to a guard?

are these easy to buy?

According to my understanding, they are magnetic cards that are fed through card readers when exiting buses or when passing through subway ticket gates. They are activated on first use.

are these easy to buy?

If you buy them at the bus ticket counter at Kyoto Station or at a subway ticket machine, they should be easy to purchase. I don't recommend purchase directly from the bus driver, though. They are often stressed and behind schedule. Maybe they are not even available in buses.
