From Narita to Naeba and back to Tokyo 2013/1/15 08:33
Hi all,

I'm flying to Japan with my husband for the first time on 28th Jan 2013. Arriving in Narita at around 7am and then we'll stay at Naeba Prince Hotel.
Is there any information regarding train schedule from Tokyo station to Echigo Yuzawa Station?
Can I use JR pass for trip to Narita to Tokyo to Yuzawa and back to Tokyo again?

Thank you

What is your itinerary in full including dates and airports?

Depending on how long you spend there and if you don't go much further than Echigo Yuzawa maybe the JR Kanto Pass (or two), or individual tickets will be a better option.

JR Kanto + Gala option covers you to Gala Yuzawa which is only one short cheap hop from Echigo Yuzawa.

Enjoy your trip!

Thank you :)

arrive in Narita on 29th Jan morning, then Naeba for 2 nights, will be back to Tokyo on the 31st jan. I'm planning to stay in Tokyo until 7th Feb then fly back to Singapore on the 7th feb. During my stay in Tokyo I might go to Mt.Fuji on a day trip using the bullet train.

I'm thinking of buying 7 day JR pass and buy the rest 3 days in single passes if needed. But would it be cheaper for me (to go around Tokyo and 1 round trip to and from Mt.Fuji area ) to buy single passes straight from the station? or should I buy 14 days JR pass that will cover my whole 10 days in Japan with 4 days excess (will be unused)

Thanks again for your answers

Defintely do not get a JR Pass. Just get the JR Kanto Pass + Gala Special as explained above.

Assuming you mean Hakone, you can either just pay for the Shinkansen to Odawara, or if you wish to save money the Hakone Free Pass and Odakyu trains from Shinjuku are a better solution.
