Re: Koyo 2014 forecast 2014/10/2 20:36
Hello there, I'm also very interested with this thread :)

Going to Kyoto from Nov 22th to Dec 1, from KL too... a bit worried that koyo will be too earlier this year in Kyoto...

Any other places we can go for "late" koyo?

Hi all
I also booked the ticket to watch Kyoto koyo on 19-21 November , so worry about the earlier koyo so I start reading the 2011-2013 reports and found some places that koyo may likely peak later . They are Kitano Tenmangu , Nagaoka Tenmanku ,Komyoji Temple , Shinnyo do temple.

Are these places good options for us who 've already planned and booked the trip?

Thanks setiawanlucky :), now I'm thinking of going to Kamakura as a backup plan :)

Nilubol, I went to Kitano Tenmangu last year (30th November, which was considered late for koyo), it was amazing :)

Something I ran into earlier - an autumn foliage update run by the JTTA. Might be handy for planning this autumn.

Hello there everyone, so is it safe to say that Koyo in Kansai (esp Kyoto) will be about a week earlier than the average, i.e. just about the last third of November?

I was in Kyoto on 22-24 October and I saw some yellow leaves at the Imperial Palace. I was informed that koyo came earlier as expected. I even had to change my schedule at least twice because of this :(

They are appearing earlier than in recent years, most of which were late years. But compared to the 30-year average, they are pretty much on schedule.

The upcoming nights are forecast to be relatively cold, so I expect the colors to develop at a good pace and generally reach the peak around November 20.

Thanks Uji for the update :)

So sorry to hear that Chimmy. Hope you will experience Koyo on your next trip to Kyoto
