Re: 2016 Baseball season schedule 2015/11/23 06:14
Sorry to jump on someone else's thread; may I ask a couple of questions please?

I've seen that there are services which source tickets for baseball for tourists (for a fee).

Is it completely naive of me to imagine that 3 of us might be able to just turn up at the stadium an hour or so before the start of the game and get tickets on the door?

We'll be in Tokyo next April and the Giants will be playing at the Tokyo Dome. I'm from the UK and have never seen a baseball game, but think it would be great to experience one in Japan. Do I have to plan this in advance, or not?

Thanks, and sorry again for jumping in.

You can buy daytickets at the door(ticket desk of Tokyo Dome) if it's okay to sit outside field seats which is cheapest ticket.
Inside field seats and seats behind the home plate is sometimes sold out quickly.

Thanks very much tokyofriend48.
That's great news. I've always been curious about baseball, and I've read that the atmosphere at a Japanese game is really good fun.

Re: 2016 Baseball season schedule 2015/11/24 06:21
The baseball season in April is not so popular. I'm sure you can buy the day ticket at Tokyo Dome ticket office(Gate No.22) between 10:00 and the 6th inning(run up to 9th inning) on the game day without pre-booking in advance.

The ticket price in Tokyo Dome is between 1,700 - 6,100 Yen.
I suppose outside field reserved seats(2,200 Yen) are plenty left. 1,700 Yen seats are not very good view.

There are three baseball games held in Tokyo Dome April 2016.
Giants vs Tigers, 5 -7 Apr
Giants vs Carp, 16 -17 Apr
Giants vs DeNA Baystars, 22 -24 Apr

The team color of Giants is orange, Tigers is black and yellow, Carp is red, and DeNA Baystars is blue.
If your seat is in Giants side(home side or first base side), you better not wear or bring clothing color other than orange. Giants fan wears orange color clothing so they believe you are a visitor's fan if you wear other than orange color(eg, wearing blue color clothing and sit in Giants side on 22-24 Apr is legally alright but something strange).
The staff at ticket office asks you which side of seat you want to sit in(Home or visitor).

My family and I will be in fukuoka March 20th - 27th. Anyone know if the Hawks have any preseason games that week? Thank you!

The link in Truck 101's post above has schedules. If you click the link, then look for a secondary link on the left hand side ("Baseball schedules"), then there's a listing by month which should help.

Re: 2016 Baseball season schedule 2015/11/26 06:14
The schedule for 2016 pre-season games will be annouced in mid-December 2015.

Hawks will be playing against GoldenEagles in Miyagi between 25-27 March 2016 as a regular season game.
I don't think any of professional teams will be playing in Fukuoka during the days.

Re: 2016 Baseball season schedule 2015/12/3 11:17
We would like to buy tickets to the Tigers home opener Mar 25, and will get our hotel concierge to do that.

Question for the experts: when will the team put individual tickets to that game on sale?

Re: 2016 Baseball season schedule 2015/12/3 16:44
Tigers vs Dragons in Kyocera Dome(Osaka), 25 - 27 Mar 2016.
The ticket will be sale on 19th, 20th or 21st Feb 2016(19th Feb in 2015, 21st Feb in 2014).
I think tigers fan club members have priority to purchase opening game tickets in advance(from early Feb).

Re: 2016 Baseball season schedule 2015/12/19 17:06
Hi, I am visiting Japan from March 17th till the 26th 2016. I would like to attend a few baseball game. I realize this is the end of the exhibition schedule and my last night is Opening day!!

In looking at the schedule I would like to go to the game Monday the 21st in Hiroshima and will be in Tokyo when the season opens on the 25th. Are preseason games well attended?

I am interested in going to s game on the 25th that will have the best atmosphere near Tokyo, what game would you suggest? How hard will it be to get tickets since it is opening day?

I really want to go to a game where they do the umbrella dance or release balloons but it does not appear I will be able to attend one.

Will I be able to find merchandise of Ichiro, Matsui and Bobby V. from their Japanese league teams?

John B Digs Japan,
You'll love the stadium in Hiroshima. I highly recommend staying at the Sheraton Hiroshima. Possibly the best hotel value in Japan. 15 minute walk to Zoom Zoom Stadium from the hotel. Should be able to see it from your room. While there, you must go to Miyajima for sightseeing but wait unit 3-4pm to go so that the locals have cleared out and you can have the place to yourself. Stay past sundown, eat dinner on Miyajima and you'll have the ferry back to yourself as well.
Enjoy!

For visitors, I would recommend you to visit Tokyo Dome or Jungu Stadium for easy transport access.

The spring holiday for primary, junior college and senior highschool will begin 24 or 25 March. Some venues on 25 March is very much crowded with school pupils.

Jet balloon cheering(7th inning) is not allowed to blow in Tokyo Dome, Jungu Stadium and Nagoya Dome due to venue facilities.
You need to buy balloons in the stadium shop around 300 Yen with 4 balloons in.

I don't know Swallows allows umbrella dance for pre-season games. You need to buy the small umbrella 500 - 1,000 yen at Swallows shop.

Re: 2016 Baseball spring training 2015/12/29 15:56
Dear All,

This is slightly different to the previous questions and answers.
I will be in Okinawa from 22 jan - 6 feb 2016and would like to attend a spring training match if possible. Do you know how I can get more information about when and where they are held and how i can attend and how to buy tickets?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance :)

Re: 2016 Baseball season schedule 2015/12/29 21:12
NPB spring training begins on 1st of Feb every year.

Chiba Lotte Marines - Chuo undo koen baseball ground in Ishigaki-jima island, 1 - 19 Feb.

Tohoku Rakuten Goldeneagles - Kumejima baseball ground in Kumejima island, 1 - 21 Feb.

Yokohama DeNA Baystars - Ginowan city baseball ground in Okinawa main island, 1 -28 Feb.

Hanshin Tigers - Ginoza village baseball ground in Ginoza village, training session is still unknown(1 -25 Feb 2015)

Chunichi Dragons - Chatan baseball park in Chatan town, training session is still unknown(1 -26 Feb 2015)

Tokyo Yakult Swallows - Urasoe city baseball ground in Urasoe city, training session is still unknown(1 - 26 Feb 2015)

Those teams will be trainig every 3 - 4 days interval, one day break and so on.

The attendance is free. You can take photos of players but can not yell or demand to take photo or ask for sign. The team is under training session.

You can probably have chance to watch some training matches mid or late Feb, but I don't think you can watch training matches by 6 Feb. The training match attendace is also free.

Some Korean professional baseball teams will be training in Okinawa between Feb and March.
