sorry for delayed reply.. no they just asked us photocopy of our passport, transcript of record, diploma and some identification pictures for japan visa..

I even sent them authenticated documents even it is not required hoping that it will speed up my result but i does not! :(

a4tech : for me I also have been there for 1 year as a research student. Maybe it is the reason that makes the process longer.

thinking why it took so long, why others have theirs in 2-3 weeks.. they're so lucky!! lets still hoping for a good result.. But is there someone here knows someone who took more than 6 months to released their COE??

Those who got their COE is the same requirements like us submitted to our agency so were thinking why with them it worked really quick and with us is still pending.. college grad and have worked 10 years..

FYI

Engineer and Specialist in Humanities / International Services consolidated into one single visa category
The Engineer visa and Specialist in Humanities / International Services visa used to be two separate visa categories.
From April 2015, these two visas are consolidated into one signe visa category: Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Services visa.
The visa requirements remain the same, which means that it is still required to have the relevant educational or professional background in the specialized field of the job that you are going to engage in Japan.

However the relevance between the major field of study or professional experience and the job description has become less strict and it's also possible to engage in tasks that are spread out in different fields of specialization.

It is not required to obtain the "Permission to engage in other activities" if you are an IT engineer who does translation work for example, as these two categories are now covered under the same visa category.

LESS STRICT, hopefully it will be applied to us.

I'm one of those people who got my COE in 2.5 weeks. No, I don't have 10+ years of working experience (in fact only 9 months previously as I was a fresh graduate, although my skill set, education background and working experience is unmistakably related to my current job ). No special or additional documents either.

The only difference was, I was applying to Hiroshima and the main company who sponsored my visa is a big one, and has done the whole sponsoring process many times.

I'm not sure if applying to Tokyo (as many of you seems to be) actually prolongs the process as it's the Director General of your respective prefecture's (in this case, Tokyo) Immigration Bureau which gives the final stamp of approval before your COE gets issued. The more people who applied, the longer it takes...? :/

Will be crossing my fingers for you guys.

Two applicants of our agency who applied their COE last June was released their COE today and it is denied...

ours?? still waiting...

From June until today is less then 3 months...
But denied why? You mean released CoE is useless?

what do you mean by that? they didnot get the Coe(elegibilty)--i am very sure Immigration will not tell the reason why they denied your friends Coe----may i ask you some thing that your agency submitt any other addational documents for those who get denied or not----

A4tech immigration will ring a bell of danger for all of us who are waiting there Coe-well i wait almost 4 months and submitt bundle of documents as addational documents i feel scared now of being denied..fingure cross and praying for all of us that nothing bad will be happen with us...

Yeah I get it. That's one disadvantage of getting a job in the capital city.
We are almost in the same page. I don't have much experience but my work is not so related with my course (hope my employer has provided a detailed job description so the immigration will understand why they chose to hire me).

My God! I also applied last June. Hope that it will not be a jinx to me. What are their qualifications and why do you think they were denied? Dont they have much work experiences?

Now I really wonder what affects their decision making most and why it has to be this long.

My Japanese employer translated every single documents for me from English to Japanese. Perhaps that might speed up the process a little.

sorry for the wrong term.. two applicants were denied,, no coe released.. Our company(sponsor) in japan emailed our agency that they're were denied..

question; Does immigration tell the reason for denying coe?

yeah i have been asked 2 times for addational documents and now latest news is that lawyer send some papers to my wife for her signature and need my passport size pic this is the 3rd time.don,t know whats happening----

i don,t know about immigration in Japan but before i apply for a tourist visa Embassy ask from me some of the addational documents and i submitt that 2 times but after that they reject my visa application--when i ask them what is the the reason they say sorry to me and tell me that they will not tell me the reason.thats the rules of Japan they will not tell you the reason--thats what happened with me in embassy i think same rule will be in immigration
