The following is a medium paced, full day itinerary exploring an eclectic selection of Osaka's historical, modern and everyday life attractions. While we sometimes travel by train, this route is predominantly done on foot, walking some seven kilometers.

Very long shopping street with a neighborhood feel 45 minutes
Claiming to be the longest shopping street in Japan, the covered Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street stretches more than two kilometers, and contains a variety of shops frequented by locals. Through this the area maintains an old-fashioned neighborhood charm.

Reconstruction of the large feudal castle 90 minutes
The vast park around Osaka Castle contains lots of green space and impressive fortifications and moats. The castle keep is a reconstruction from the 1930s and contains a museum and observation deck.
Walk from Osaka Castle to Tanimachi Yonchome Station

Take the Tanimachi Subway Line from Tanimachi Yonchome Station to Tennoji Station

Abeno Harukas
Japan's tallest skyscraper with observation deck 60 minutes
Japan's tallest skyscraper boasts the Harukas 300 observation deck on floors 58 to 60. From here visitors are afforded great views of the city and many of its sites. In addition, the building also houses a large department store, an art museum and a hotel.
Take Midosuji Subway Line from Tennoji Station to Namba Station

The Minami district is Osaka's most famous entertainment hub, offering an abundance of dining and shopping choices. Within this area stand the iconic Dotonbori Bridge, Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade and Amerika Mura to name but a few.
