Hachiko souvenirs (revisited) 2013/9/16 02:48
(not quite sure if asking the question again makes it relevant enough to resurrect the old thread of the same name)

I was wondering if anyone knows if this shop (Shibuya No Shippo) is still where it's said to have been in as stated in the previous thread of the same name or in this article, which the date is not known:
http://www.kickthemallout.com/article.php/Story-Hachiko_Most_Faithful_...

I will be looking for a souvenir for a co-worker who recently saw the American version of the film and was wondering if I can bring her a small souvenir of the dog. The previous thread yielded few hopes and I don't know if it's just not a souvenir-type of object or not. A magnet or key chain would do. Something edible wouldn't be as good or definitely permanent. Does anyone know if looking for something from either the film (original Japanese version) or just plain omiyage merchandise is an exercise in futility? I'd appreciate any help! Thank you!

When I went to the National Museum of Science and Nature (Ueno, Tokyo) I remember I was able to buy a Hachiko postcard at their gift shop. So I went to their website just now and it shows that they sell Hachiko figurines:

Close up view of it: http://www.kahaku.go.jp/english/userguide/access/shop/imgs/shop.pdf

It doesn't say how much it costs but since it mentions that you purchase them from a vending machine I doubt it can be too expensive. Hachiko is a popular exhibit at this museum so there might be other items related to him sold there. Hope that helps.

Shibuya no Shippo is closed in 2006.
Shibuya Mark-city B1 food shop street still sell some of Shibuya no Shippo food products, no key chains nor soft toys of Hachi are sold.

The Gacha-pon toy at the museum is 300 YEN per trial, you can't even choose one specific item. You can't choose which item will come out, if you tried 10 times then it might come up the same items 10 times. It's quite gamble.

Kanesho Sasaki in Akita(not Tokyo) sells Hachi soft toy.

Sanrio World at Nishi-Ginza department store might sell some Hello Kitty & Hachi collaborated goods(not sure).
