Question on the manners

As an Asian, taking shoes off when entering someone's house and temples is nothing new to me. But I have always done this with 'naked' feet (unlike in Japan, it's not offensive in south east Asia). In Japan, however we are required to wear socks after taking shoes off, AND if slippers were provided, wear it. Now I am wondering, how do we wear slippers and socks at the same time? Does it means I must buy socks with big toe section? http://www.sushi-suzuki.com/blog/uploaded_images/socksforsandals2-7972...I am planning to wear sheer nylon stockings because socks won't go well with my ballerina flats. As far as I know, there's no sheer stockings with big toe section.

While small sheer socks are popular with females in Japan for shoes, they also go without socks and will go barefoot when indoors or temples if no slippers are provided.
As for slippers, they will be the normal kind of slippers with no divide between the toes.

Ainee, Yes, although not uncommon, bare feet aren't really appreciated indoors, so you will get extra credit for carrying around your own socks, whatever the shape or material. As for slippers, the following images are typical examples of them. They are bigger than average shoes, so that any guest will be able to fit into them. Just slipt them on top of your socks or stockings. https://www.google.co.jp/search?hl=ja&gs_rn=27&gs_ri=psy-ab&gs_is=1&cp...

I noticed that the OP's link is a photo of a pair of zori, but that's not what you wear "when entering someone's house and temples" in Japan. Zori are something you wear outdoors and is hardly provided to guests.
