Noun modifying noun misunderstanding

Hello everyone!
I'm reading in an electronic book that the following sentences are grammatically correct: 学生じゃない人は学校に行かない。 学生だった人は学校に行く。 学生じゃなかった人は学校に行かない。
However, the book does mention that the following is incorrect but doesn't propose the correct alternative 学生だ人学校に行く。
Should we use "no" instead of "da"?
Thanks!

The way I understand, "da" is only to be used in that way in the end of a sentence.
as in like
kore*da*!

Thank you for your replies...
@ajapaneseboy, in other words, if you want to say, in Japanese, the following sentence, how would you say it: A person "who is" a student goes to school.

It's important to remember that だ is not a verb. There are many grammatical constructions where a verb can be used but だ cannot, the one you encountered is an example.

Sorry for my poor explanation. Yes, you're right, 学生の人は学校に行く is more used than 学生である人は学校に行く.
学生である人は学校に行く。 You can replace "da" with "de aru". But it sounds a bit strained like word-for-word translation.
学生の人は学校に行く。 This is used commonly. But it sounds a bit informal/broken.
By the way, if I say this in Japanese, "A person who is a student goes to school." 学生が学校に行く。 "A person who is a student goes to school." ある学生(or一人の学生)が学校に行く。
