Alone on New Year's 2014/12/30 19:41
I am in Kyoto city, very close to Kyoto station and I am going to be alone for New Year's. I have a couple Japanese friends but they were both working very late (they also live in Osaka).
I also heard there's a tv program that a bunch of band plays on New Year's and such. If I can't find anything to do, I think it might be good just to get a case of beer and watch that.

Any ideas? Thanks

Go any temples nearby (before midnight for Joya-no-kane) or shrines, like Chion-in or Yasaka. There will be tons of people and you probably won't feel so lonely.

I'm alone too! I feel you! I went to two temples in my neighborhood and one shrine in but they were all locked up and dark. I think only the big temples are open at midnight.
