Cardboard Boxes for Luggage

Hi,
We are bringing luggages that aren't too big to Japan, that comfortably carry our clothes around. This is because we'll be travelling around a lot before staying a few nights in Tokyo, and we intend to perhaps pack our souvenirs, snacks and food to bring back home in cardboard boxes.
May I ask if supermarkets and convenience stores usually provide used cardboard boxes for free, along with tape or string to wrap them up nicely so that we can check them in nicely as luggage?
Thank you.

In big supermarkets yes there are used cardboard boxes for free, but you need to buy tape or string yourself.
I have seen carts of used cardboard boxes for customers at supermarkets, but not at convenience stores.

Convenience store no, but as AK said, many supermarkets provide used cardboard boxes either for free of for very cheap. You can also buy them at a home goods store or medium sized ones at the post office. Don't forget to buy some tape and rope at the 100 yen store.
