Ito (Izu Peninsula) to Ainokura in a day

We are leaving Ito on the Izu Peninsula on April 6th, and trying to get to Ainokura in Gokayama in time to check into a gassho-zukuri farmhouse for two nights. I realise that's a big mission! I know that Ito to Tokyo should be between 1 - 2 hours with a change over at Atami. And I know that there is the new Hokuriku shinkansen line all the way to Kanazawa as of March - but I can't find a timetable for it. I read that the only way into Ainokura is a bus from Takaoka? http://www.japan-guide.com/bus/gokayama.htmlI'm just having trouble piecing it all together to work out if we have enough time to get to Ainokura before a reasonable check in time (3 - 4pm). We are more than happy to get up early, but it depends on the actual train/bus times and I'm having trouble finding/understading/putting them together. If this is all too difficult, I'm not sure if renting a car or staying somewhere along the way one night, then one night in Ainokura would be feasible. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
