free wifi for tourists

we plan to go to Japan on march 2015. we will need maximum access to wifi. i've heard you can get tourist free wifi for 3 weeks. where can we get it?

If you need MAX wifi access, don't rely on free wifi. Get a pocket wifi.

If you want just free internet then some train station and starbucks (you need to signup before you get into Japan)

If you want Wifi Internet on the go then you need Pocket Wifi

I had pocket wifi for a week last time in Japan and it was very nice. I used Tocoo last time http://wifi.tocoo.jp/en/

thanks for the advices. I do not understand what is a pocket wifi. also I loaded the application Japan wi-fi. do you know what do I have to do in order to use it, and where does it work? I've also read that there is a wifi for tourist that you can get at the airport. do someone have more details?
