Okinawa by by air and transportation

hi,
I'm traveling to japan for two months and
I will start from Hokkaido and down slowly to Kyushu.
I'm interested to visit Okinawa too.
I heard the best and fastest way is by air
I want to fly there from Tokyo to Naha air port.
does anybody knows a safe website to order online tickets from? any cheap ones too? and how long before the trip should I order it?
also I know there is not much of a JR trains there.... is there any transportation at all?

For transportation on Okinawa Hanto (the main island) there are buses. In Naha they have city buses and a monorail. I found that the monorail was pretty good at getting me close enough to the things I wanted to see that I could walk from the monorail station, so I never took a bus in Naha. But, my idea of close enough to walk and your idea may be completely different.

As for getting around the island itself, if you can drive I highly recommend renting a car.
