Where to find practice JLPT tests 2015/2/19 01:44
I am studying Japanese and looking for practice/example JLPT exams, levels N5 and N4. A website with free practice tests would be ideal but I'm willing to buy a book too if someone can recommend one. And if it comes with an answer key, even better. Thank you everyone for your help!

I believe the JLPT official website has some sample tests.

From the JLPT website.
http://www.jlpt.jp/e/samples/sample12.html

Has PDFs of test questions in the format that the test is presented. As well as practice audio files and the sample test answers.

I took the N3 last Decemember.

One thing to note that I was never told is that you cannot rewind the recording on the listening portion of the test. It is a linear progression. You might want to factor that into your studying.

If there's a Japan Foundation office in your area, you might want to raid their library for sample tests and other references (reviewers, textbooks, CDs, etc.). I can't speak for JF branches in other countries, but the one in my corner of the world has pretty much everything you need to prepare for the JLPT, whatever level you're planning on taking.

Cheers.

I've taken all of the JLPT tests except for N1 which is what I'm aiming for this year. Here are some of the resources that I use:

Web:

http://www.tanos.co.uk/jlpt/
- Very comprehensive site with lists for all the sections plus previous tests.

http://www.jgram.org/
- Kind of outdated but still very helpful in looking up grammar points.

https://www.renshuu.org/
- What I can't find in Jgram I can usually find here.

Books

I do recommend buying at least one practice test book. They all come with answer booklets. You can find them online in PDF format but I like a hard copy. I usually buy one from Tanki master. This is what it looks like for N4: http://www.thejapanshop.com/Tanki-Master-Japanese-Language-Proficiency...

Other books that I buy are from the Nihongo Sou Matome series. There is a book for each section of the test.

Here is someone's review on the series: http://www.languageinreview.com/Japanese-detail/nihongo-so-matome-seri...

Hope this helps. Good luck!
