Hello everyone,
I will be taking Shinkansen 1st time travelling from Nagoya to Shin-Osaka on 16 Jun 2015 around 4pm. May I ask is this departure timing considered as peak hour? Is it advisable for me to go for reserved seat? My preference is unreserved seat if possible but worry I cannot find empty seat and have to stand whole journey.
Appreciate advice pls. Thank you.

No.

It depends on the person. I would definitely make a seat reservation for peace of mind. I find boarding the train at Nagoya is particularly nerve-wracking without seat reservations. And especially Nozomi trains have only three non-reserved cars. But other types of travelers won't make seat reservations in order to save some money or travel flexibly. After all, it is just a 50 minute ride in case you don't find seating.
