Visiting Narai-juku on New Year's Eve 2015/2/20 02:51
Hi everyone,

May I ask about whether Narai-juku is open during New Year's Eve as well? Because I have noted that there are quite a number of places which are closed on that day. As I am traveling from Kyoto to Tokyo on that day with no planning in mind, I would like to drop by Narai-juku then...

Thank you.

Tsumaogo, Magome or Narai-juku accommodation allmost closed from end of December. If you would like to go Narai, I will recommend your stay at Matsumoto-city.

The Kamidonya Museum should be open according to Narai's website.
The history museum will be closed.
The Nakamura House should be open.

As for the shops, that is usually determined by the owners, so I'd expect some to be closed but definitely not all. These are difficult/impossible to predict.

Overall though, the historic district will obviously be there, so you should be able to enjoy the walk through and nostalgic feel.
