No, certainly not. It is not recommended, either, as you don't know when exactly you will arrive and how much time you need to pass immigration and customs.

JR pass covers both Narita express and Shinkansen.
Narita to Kyoto return is enough to begin saving money. Going to Osaka, side trips or anything else is then a bonus.
