Yon-mai-kippu from Fukuoka to Nagasaki 2015/2/25 03:03
Hi, I would like to ask regarding the set of 4 tickets (Yon-mai-kippu) from Fukuoka to Nagasaki, do I buy it at the train station? Is this for unreserved or reserved seating?

Can't seem to find much information on these discounted tickets.

Thank you.

If you are a traveler, why not simply get the JR Northern Kyushu pass? It would be cheaper and you can travel to a lot more places with it for 3 days.
There are some good places to see in both cities though. Fukuoka has lots of open parks, shopping, and historical sites. One of the best is the nearly unknown Nanzoin Temple, which is also free:

Nagasaki is the most interesting city on Kyushu, and be sure not to miss trying the chanpon and saraudon.

Thanks for the reply. I considered the North Kyushu pass but I'm not travelling that much around the region so it is actually cheaper for me to get the 4 set discount tickets.

Thank you, that was very helpful.

When I buy the Yon-mai-kippu, must I indicate the specific train to take at the time of purchase or how does it work? Can I buy them in advance or only on the day of travel?

Re: Yon-mai-kippu from Fukuoka to Nagasaki 2015/2/25 18:59
Yon-mai-kippu is no sold out(mentioned already) purchasing any before days also possible
but all four tickets will be same validity 2 month from purchasing date. (ex 2/25 → 4/25)
(Yon-mai-kippu is not one ticket or IC card type)

Reserved seat ticket sales starts from one month before.
Reserved seat ticket valid for the specific train
printed travel date, train name, time, and seat numbers like this.
http://www.chrisluckhardt.com/sites/default/files/pictures/article-jap...
but u can also take after train unreserved(if not last one) on same date if couldn't catch the specific.

Both tickets works for automatic ticket gate insert together possible
http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/ticket/img/renew/img/station_img_04.jpg
no need showing ticket gate staff (like Japan Rail Pass) just don't forget to take at dep stn gate.
At arrival stn tickets validity overed will be gone gate inside no take again just gate open.
