Is Mount Hiei Cable Pass still available? 2015/3/5 18:57
I'm planning to visit Mt. Hiei via Sakamoto cable on 21 Mar. I found this pass, "Mount Hiei Cable and Bus Sightseeing Pass", info but the sales period was ended in 2014. I can't find any info of 2015 so anyone know if the pass is still available?

I bought the Kansai Thru Pass / 2 day version costs Y4000 / 3 day version costs Y5200. For foreigners, they have the non consecutive day version. This pass covers the Osaka / Nara / Kyoto area. It can be bought from the Kansai International Airport KAA Travel Desk from 0700hrs to 2200hrs and is also available from various other locations. You can google their website www.surutto.com. I used this pass to get up to Mount Hiei. You will need to use the Ishiyamasakamoto line from Hamaotsu to Sakamoto, then it is about a 15 minute walk to Cable Sakamoto for the cable car ride up to Cable Enryakuji. Pls note that not all cable car rides are covered by this pass, just happens that Mount Hiei is included.

The Kansai Region have many types of train passes. You may want to check them out as it will depend on where you station yourself and where you want to go to. Pls note the other types of train passes does not cover the use of cable cars and the majority is from JR, with exception Nankai (Koyasan) and Kintetsu (Yoshino).
