October trip to japan, onsen suggestions 2015/4/11 18:02
Hello, I'm planning for my second trip to japan in october..this time I wanna skip some of the famous destinations..
My intinerary is something like this

5 days in tokyo and around
1 day in matsumoto
1 day from matsumoto doing the alpine route and sleeping at toyama (not sure where)
4 days kyoto
3 days okayama / kurashiki and around.

I have two questions:
Last time i went to tokyo oedo onsen monogatari, and it was nice.
This time i wanna try another onsen, maybe an onsen ryokan...
What do you suggest and where? I was thinking about something in toyama after the alpine route (maybe kurobe gorge?)

The second question is: I would like to see something in shikoku...what are the options from okayama as one day trip?

Thanks!

My favorite onsen destination in the general area is Okuhida, but it is not located nicely along your route. It could be reached in a 2-hour side trip from Matsumoto:

Kaga Onsen is located along the way between Toyama and Kyoto:

The snow monkeys and Shibu/Yudanaka Onsen are also not too far off your route:

The second question is: I would like to see something in shikoku...what are the options from okayama as one day trip?

Naoshima Island (part of the Shikoku Region):

Takamatsu:

Kotohira:

The Marugame area:

And my favorite museum in all of Japan on Teshima Island:
