Data / Wifi

Hi!

We will be traveling to Tokyo and Hokkaido soon, would it be costly to get a Data Sim card there or are there any alternatives? e.g. pocket wifi?

We need our data for whatsapping and googlemaps.

Data SIMs are cheaper and more convenient than pocket wifis, but usually offer slower data speeds (sufficient for texting and maps, though) and are not compatible with all phones. Just do a search on this forum, there are plenty of threads about this topic.

Data SIM each of you will need SIM for your own phone. Price begin from 3xxx yen depending on data limit and usage period.

Pocket Wifi all of you will share the data from pocket wifi. You need to be together. Only rent one unit fmr your group. Rental start from 5xx yen/day depending on device and data plan.

Or if your phone can do thethering, just get one DATA SIM for one phone and thether it to be share with wotr group. Work same as pocket wifi, just that you no need to rent the pocket wifi device, just DATA SIM card.
