Studying while Teaching in Japan 2016/10/19 15:03
I'm wondering if anyone knows if ALTs on a program like JET are allowed to attend Japanese language school or otherwise study part-time in Japan while on the work visa through JET etc? I know that students need to get permission to work of course, but do working people need to get permission to study or try to get some kind of work/study visa? Or if studying is only part time does it not matter? I've tried to find out about this but haven't had any luck, so I'm wondering if there is anyone with any experience or knowledge about this. Thanks!

In general, studying requires no special permission, since it is not a paid activity. The JET program may have specific regulations, however. Ask your supervisors.
