How feasible is to find chef work? 2017/1/12 15:38
Hello, my name is Pedro. I have been a professional chef for 15 years, specialising in french/Spanish/Italian cooking. I can fluently speak French, English and Spanish. Started Japanese recently too. I've worked in several countries and now residing in NZ and Japan has been on my list...
My question is how do I go about finding a sponsor? Or how feasible it is to get a work visa if I were to go there on a tourist visa?
Thanks a bunch for any reply
Cheers, Pedro

I'd imagine that it would be quite hard to find work *before* going to Japan but if you go to Japan on a tourist visa, that would give you some time to look for work. You'd then have to leave the country in order to return on a work visa.

I can't comment as to likely availability of work but there are masses of western style restaurants in Japan and I know of quite a few foreign chefs working happily so I would imagine your chances are reasonably good...
