Activate and book JR pass

Hello..

We will be arriving in Tokyo on 27 Dec 2017, we have 7-days JR-pass. We want to start using the JR pass on the 28 Dec 2017. Can we exchange and book for the seats on the 27 Dec straight away? our pass will valid from 27 dec 2017 till 2 jan 2018 or 28 dec 2017 until 3 jan 2018?

Yes, as soon as you exchange the voucher to a pass you can make reservations.

Your pass will be good for seven days from activation. When you exchange your voucher, you tell the attendant when to activate (first day of use).

I book seats on 27 Dec, I start travelling on 28 dec. So its 27 or 28 count as first day?

28th is your Day-1.

Yes you can make reservations but make sure to exchange the voucher to a pass as soon as you can.

Yes, you can activate later than when you make reservations, just tell the counter agent when you exchange for the pass.
