Bringing Signs into Japan Concerts 2017/5/2 15:49
Hi,

I'll be going to a Pentatonix concert in Osaka on the 30th of May. I just wanted to know if signs are allowed to be brought into the venue and held up during the show, or are there rules against this?

Thank you!

It should be mentioned in the rules to which you agreed when you purchased your tickets.

They're usually allowed but not as appreciated or common as they are in Europe or the Americas. Try not to let your sign get in the way of viewers behind you. If you must raise your sign, keep it quick. It would be ideal if you are in the front row of any block (such as facing an isle or at the front of a balcony). Then you can hang your sign instead of raising it.

In many concerts (eg. Johnny's idols) fans write their messages on uchiwa fans and take them to concerts. You can find blank uchiwas and materials to decorate them at Loft or Tokyu Hands for example.
Make sure to keep them at your chest height and not wave them around because that might impair other people from seeing the stage. :)
