Award Winning (recommended) Umeshu

Hi.
Are there any recommendations for some good (award winning ?) umeshu ? Will be in Japan next month and would like to buy a few bottles home.
Previously tried the Suntory 5 years Umeshu with brandy which I got from the duty free shop. Nice but I think it may be quite ordinary among umeshu connoisseurs. Only for export not available domestically.
Thanks in advance.

If you're going to be spending any time in Tokyo, I would recommend having dinner at Daichi no Okurimono - it's a natural foods buffet restaurant where you can try 100 different kinds of umeshu with your meal. http://bento.com/rev/2701.htmlUmeshu is usually made from shochu, less often from sake, and occasionally from other liquors like brandy. Personally I prefer sake umeshu, but it doesn't last as long as shochu umeshu. Yuzushu is another fruit liqueur that's becoming more popular.

Thanks Umami Dearest for the tips. Unfortunately we will not be visiting Tokyo this time, only Matsue/Tottori/ Kyotango/Kyoto and Osaka. I found this site but not sure how reliable it is : http://umeshu.in/compe/2016Yes, have seen yuzushu in the shops, any recommendations ? Cheers.

I like Hououbiden umeshu. I see it in stores in Tokyo quite often, but I have no idea if it's easy to find in western Japan....
