Farm Tomita's Flower Fields 2017/6/18 13:36
Hi everyone. I need help on the following:

1) Can anyone please advise what flower field (e.g Hanabito, Iridori, etc) is closest to the Farm Tomita entrance if I'm coming from Kami-furano? I plan to take a local train (instead of Norokko since it's first trip from Furano is still at 1153am) from Furano station to Kami-furano station and walk my way to Farm Tomita. I want to know which flower field is closest to this approach.

2) I read in Farm Tomita's website that the best viewing season at Farm Tomita's Lavender Field is between early to mid-July. My planned visit is still on July 25. Will I still be able to see the lavenders in full bloom?

3) I don't plan to rent a car or take a taxi. How can I get to Lavender East from Farm Tomita?

Thanks in advance everyone!

Why Kami-Furano? Naka-Furano is the nearest station after Lavender Batake.
0.5km 6min Lavender Batake (only for Norroko)
1.7km 20min Naka-Furano
2.2km 27min Nishinaka
6.7km 81min Kami-Furano

Kami-Furano and Nishinaka stations are at the right-hand side of this map.
http://www.farm-tomita.co.jp/en/farm/
Naka-Furano is at the left. Lavender Batake at the bottom. So, the nearest to Kami-Furano and Nishinaka is "Spring Field" and "Hanabito Garden" is the nearest to Naka-Furano and Lavender Batake.

Choei Lavender Farm, at the Hokusei Ski Area, is on the way from Naka-Furano to Farm Tomita. It should be a good landmark with a chair lift to the summit.
http://nakafukanko.com/en/life/lavender

Lavender East is 4.4km (53min) away from Farm Tomita. No public transportations. If you do not take a taxi, you have to walk. Or, gather mates to share a taxi fee.
http://www.kamifurano.jp/exlang/sights/farm-tomita-lavender-east/?lng=...
http://www.farm-tomita.co.jp/en/access/

Full blooms should depend on yearly conditions. They would cut lavenders in early August. Anyway, July 25 should be OK. But, Farm Tomita would be very crowded at that time. The summer vacation will start around July 20 in Japan.

The lavender flowering level index (by Kami-Furano Town) was 10 (full bloom) on 2015-07-27 (at Hinode Lavender Garden, C on the map).

For other years, all was 10.

Re: Farm Tomita's Flower Fields 2017/6/19 15:10
Hi Luissjp, thank you very much for the detailed response!! Sorry for the confusion, I meant Nakafurano and not Kamifurano.

I didn't know schoo break starts in July 20 same as my birthday. The same reason why I planned to visit Furano and Biei between July 25 to 27. Thank you for letting me know. I hope I can still get some decent photos despite the volume of people.

I appreciate the list where I can view lavender fields. I really appreciate it!! I will check these locations and will allot time to see some. I was thinking Lavender East and Farm Tomita were my best choices.

Thanks again Luissjp!!!

Re: Farm Tomita's Flower Fields 2017/6/19 15:59
Flower fields are open for 24 hours.
http://www.farm-tomita.co.jp/news/detail.asp?id=52
Toilets could be used from 8:30.
http://www.farm-tomita.co.jp/en/farm/facility_guide.asp?id=1
http://www.farm-tomita.co.jp/en/farm/facility_guide.asp?id=4
http://www.farm-tomita.co.jp/en/farm/facility_guide.asp?id=6
At Lavender East, from 9:00.
http://www.farm-tomita.co.jp/en/east/

Some people dare to visit there in the early morning. Because the flowers should be their best in that time.

The sunrise is at 4:13 on July 25.
https://www.google.co.jp/search?q=%E5%AF%8C%E8%89%AF%E9%87%8E+%E6%97%A...

The first train departs from Furano at 5:58. In this case, it would be hard to share a taxi, though.
https://world.jorudan.co.jp/mln/en/?p=0&xpd=1&from=Furano&to=Naka-Fura...

The first train from Asahikawa arrives at Naka-Furano at 6:53, and the first bus from Sapporo at 9:47.

https://world.jorudan.co.jp/mln/en/?p=0&xpd=1&from=Sapporo%28Hokkaido%...
http://www.furanobus.jp/lavender/index.html

So, before 7:00, or before 10:00 could be some guidelines.

Re: Farm Tomita's Flower Fields 2017/6/19 21:33
Thanks for the additional resources Luisjp! Too bad I'm staying at Sapporo so to catch the sunrise would be impossible. I'll probably plan to come back next year and stay within Furano area so I can try the sunrise and enjoy the flowers early in the morning.

I've got too many to read from the links you gave and I'm even more excited for my upcoming trip :).

Arigatou Luisjp!!! :)

Re: Farm Tomita's Flower Fields 2017/6/19 22:14
By the way Luisjp, will 4 hours (example from 11am to 4pm) be enough to go around Irodori and Hanabito in Farm Tomita, Choei Lavender and Kanno Farm? I'm thinking of seeing Furano on July 25 then see Biei on July 26.

For Biei, I plan to purchase the Biei View Bus tickets (AM route to see flower farm and PM route to see the famous trees). Is it correct that the fare is 2,000 yen per course? Is this worthit? If not worthit then I might have to go back to Furano on July 26 to enjoy the other Lavender farms.

July 27 I will be in Sapporo then will travel to Kyoto on the 28th.

Re: Farm Tomita's Flower Fields 2017/6/20 15:54
You mean 4 hours from Furano? Not Saika no Oka in Nakafurano? Kanno Farm is near JR Bibaushi station.
25 min 2.0km E Kanno Farm - Bibaushi http://www.kanno-farm.com/
26 min 1.9km P Saika no Oka - Naka-Furano http://www.h3.dion.ne.jp/~saika/

If you spend one hour in each farm, you could do that within 4 hours.
11:00 Furano
11:42-11:52 Furano - Naka-Furano
12:02-13:02 Choei Farms
13:17-14:17 Farm Tomita
14:25-14:47 Lavender Farm - Bibaushi
14:53-15:53 Kanno Farm
16:15-16:43 Bibaushi - Furano

The train schedule should be a key.
http://www2.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/travel/pdf/fb08.pdf

Yours would be a bit similar to the course D on this sample page.
http://www2.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/travel/pdf/fb06.pdf

You could utilize 200 yen shared taxis running among Farm Tomita, Choei Farms, and JR Naka-Furano. See the right below corner on this page.
http://www2.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/travel/pdf/fb05.pdf

Your Biei course is almost the same with the course B in this page.
http://www2.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/travel/pdf/fb06.pdf

Biei View Bus is quite handy. A regular bus costs more than 500 yen just for one way from Biei to Blue Pond. For other sites, you should need a car or an electric bicycle. A car rental is starting from 4370 yen. If you want to cover all the Biei View Bus sites by bicycle, you would be better to take an electric cross bike for a full day; 6000 yen for an 80 km round trip.

For a next year, Highland Furano (L) could be an ideal accommodation to enjoy early morning lavenders. 2.7 ha Lavender fields would be just in front of your bedroom.

Thank you so, so much for all your help Luisjp!! The map you attached gave me a good idea of which farms are closer to each other. I can plan my visit better. Also, thank you for the suggestion on where I can stay in Furano if I plan to go back next year for a sunrise view.

You are very very helpful!!!! :)
