Supermarket, wine/alochol and Ikea 2017/8/8 14:15
Hi there, we are moving to Japan and need to organise our supplies. I have a few questions.

Does Ikea in Tokyo or other areas of Japan deliver and how far out to they deliver to? We are planning on buying some furniture from the Tokyo store when we land and then having it sent to our house in Nagano prefecture. Jus thought tokyo would be the easiest/largest store as would take us one day after we land and then we can come home and wait for it all to arrive.

What is the biggest supermarket in Tokyo and do they deliver like we do woolworths/coles online?
We want to stock up on mostly western items like good coffee (lavazza) teas canned tomatoes etc. In our area where we will be living there is not a great variety of options apart from Japanese brands.

Also, is there a store we can bulk buy alcohol from such as a Dan Murphy's equivalent? E.g. cases of wine.

we are also after cured meats and cheese (salami prosciutto cheese - the good stuff!) Not the little packets of ham or salami but proper italian stuff such as the full large salami sticks or full/shaved leg of prosciutto, big cheese wedge/wheel. Sorry I dont know if this is totally silly to ask of in Japan or if there's a deli/store that offer these items. There definitely wasn't one we could find in our area last time.

There are none of the above near where we are apart from predominantly japanese supermarkets such as BIG which sell lovely Japanese foods/items, but make it a little hard for western luxuries :)

Online stores would be a great option too!

Thanks in advance!

I wonder which city/area in Nagano you'll be living.

Costco gShin-misatoh (Saitama Pref.):
If you have a car, it doesnft matter where, but if not, this Costco is near the train station.
You can shop there and have them deliver.

Ikea gShin-misatoh is in the same area as Costco gShin-misatoh.

Supermarket:
I donft know the biggest, but one of the biggest Japanese supermarkets is AEON group and there are all over Japan.

Food:
These are the popular grocery stores who have imported foods and goods in Tokyo.
National Azabu

Good morning and thanks for your quick replies!
Firas we have looked at amazon it is still somewhat limited, particularly with wine.

Chococo304 - fabulous options, thank you! We are in Hakuba. Bought a little ski lodge there. We won't have a car in Tokyo but we will once we arrive in Hakuba.
Enoteca looks very good we will definitely order from there. We will go and visit the deli, and see what they have on offer.
The costco may have the most western variety i might look into getting a membership card, do you know if they'll deliver from the Shin-misato store all the way to Hakuba?
We could easily do Ikea and Costco in the same day, very convenient!

Costco
If you have membership in your country, you can use the card. It's worldwide.
We used our Japanese membership card when we visited US and Canada!
(I hope they haven't changed this policy.)
About delivery: I'm sure they will deliver to Hakuba.

Hakuba is a nice place. I hope you enjoy a country life in Japan!
You will find many small bakeries, fresh vegetable and fruits stands. That is what we like to do when we go Nagano and Yamanashi for vacation.

Thank you everyone! So after some extensive searching, I've discovered our fave coffee (Lavazza) is ridiculously expensive! I'm packing a few kgs in the suitcase ;)
The rest we will get over there using your very helpful recommendations.
