Hi my name is Marcel and I have a question about the CoE.

I got an internship at a tour operator in Tokyo (tourism) starting in January 2018.

The company will apply for my CoE very soon.

How long do you think it will take to receive it (I am really nervous about not getting it after a long wait since i need to look for another internship afterwards)

My nationality is Swiss and I have been to Japan before in December 2016 for 3 weeks. Does this accelerate the process?

Nobody knows how long it will take; no point in speculating.

Your work starts Jan 18 so you have 4 months, it should be comfortable time to get your CoE, while no one can see the future, generally speaking it should come in less than 3 months

The advice I received when applying was three months (it actually turned up in five weeks - maybe because it was submitted by specialist immigration lawyers). Prior visits do not necessarily count afaik.

January is still a long way off.

So generally speaking, I shouldnt be worried about not getting a CoE without a criminal record?
