Alpine route questions

hi, im planning to visit the alpine route on August 2018.
1. is the route start allways in toyama or can it be tha opposite?
2. is one day will be ok to that route?
3. my route plan to my trip after arriving in narita is Nikko (2 night), Matsumoto (1), Takayama (1) and Kanazawa (1). im with a car till kanazawa. Where in this plan should i add a day to do the alpine route and wher should i sleep?
4. Is the travel in the route are in groups or alone?

-you can also start from Shinano Oimachi and Ogizawa(Nagano)

-ok.

-it is better to go alpin route after Matsumoto. starting from Shinano omachi and return there, then resume the way to Takayama. there is big parking at Shinano omachi station.
(if you do not have car, it is ok to go through to Toyama.)

-you can travel alone. i do not know about group tour.
