Non Reserved Bus Takyama/Shirakawa/Kanazawa

Saw the above bus time table, some of the time do not need to reserve? does it mean that we can just get on the bus?

What if the non-reserved bus seat are all full? so we have to wait for next bus?

How does this non-reserved bus work?

it seems you are right.
you have to buy before the bus comes, wait at station on time and just get the bus.
i think if tourist are full, 2nd bus will appear soon. or not so much tourist uses.
as Japanese bus service is good, it will be not so much problem for you. if you worry about it, you can ask at the bus station.
