Shirakawa-go Night Illumination

Hi All,

From what I've gathered, this would happen from 5pm to 7:30pm only, is this correct?

Would using the public bus transport advisable for this event? Or should I go with a tour:

We'll be departing to and from Takayama

You'd be in agony if missing the bus, join the tour, they'll surely look for you if you are late.

The public transportation situation for the Shirakawa-go illumination is very difficult. Joining a tour or staying overnight in the village is the best way to go.

Thanks everyone. Wanted to do the overnight thing but couldnt get a place. Everything seems to be fully booked :(

Would probably stay at Takayama and do a tour to Shirakawa-go.

Renting a car isn't advisable huh? I feel like it'll also be a pain to find a parking since most of it will be closed
