Using two rail passes 2017/12/6 16:24
Hey everyone,

For my trip next May. I plan to use two rail passes. The Sanyo San'in Rail Pass and the Hokuriku Area pass both from JR West. It works out better for my plans than the JR pass.

I plan to take the Thunderbird from Osaka to Kanazawa. The San'in Pass is only valid to Tsuruga, where the Hokuriku pass begins its validity. Do I have to get off the train and take the next Thunderbird?

Thanks

The Sanyo-San'In pass covers reserved seating on the Thunderbird.

The Hokuriku pass covers non-reserved seating on the Thunder bird.

If you sit in a non reserved seat, you should be able to go all the way to Kanazawa without moving seats.

Just need to move to the unreserve car once you get to the end station of the one pass. So you can probably reserve seats till that point.

Hope this helps!
