How to get to Shirahige Shrine from Kyoto?

Hello! I am traveling (for the first time) to Japan mid-May, and I was wondering how I could efficiently get to Shiga / Shirahige Shrine from Kyoto? Preferal in the early / mid afternoon, and I'd be leaving after sunset.

Any tips / recommendations would be very appreciated!

To get there per Hyperdia takes about an hour from Kyoto on the Kosei line for Nagahara. The stop you need is Omi-Takashima and it's apparently a 5 minutes walk
