Do we need to wear "shoes spikes for ice" when we walk along the "snow corridor"?

I just want to add, we had a bad weather there, so the path was closed. We took the Highland Bus, that goes thru the corridor, to see it at least this way (we went from Ogisawa to Murodo and back, so it wasn't on our original route).
We used spikes only on a trail to Mount Tateyama, but we bailed out due to the bad weather.

"shoes spikes for ice" when we walk along the "snow corridor" We visited the place in May several years ago. We were walking on clear bitumen road, not on ice. The weather was good then, and I did not notice anyone wearing shoes spike. If the weather is bad, I assumed the "snow corridor" would be off limit. http://twistedsifter.com/2012/03/65-foot-snow-corridor-in-japan/
