Ferries from Shimokita peninsula 2018/1/25 08:33
Hi,
I am planning for a visit to Shimokita peninsula and in a different post someone mentions ferries running from Aomori to Wakinosawa and between Wakinosawa and a place northwest of Aomori called Kanita.

However, the webpages of both these ferries seem to be down. Do you know if they run at all or have the ferries stopped operation?

Here is one of the ferries:

It seems both are operating. Note that the Mutsuwan-ferry is seasonal.

Also Sii-line has a e-mail for customers.

Other one "Mutsu-wan Ferry(‚ނ˜pƒtƒFƒŠ[)" is long winter break now,
no operate schedule until spring next 21.APR.

•½¬30”N (Heisei 30 nen) means 2018. (already mentioned above, but)

And,
also you can book both at "Willer" web, but no english page like booking of bus.

http://travel.willer.co.jp/st/3/ja/pc/ferry/carrier/detail.php?id=120
Aomori : ÂX
Kanita : ŠI“c
Wakinosawa : ˜e–ì‘ò
Willer is booking portal web, just one of manegement company covered nation wide Japan.
But their ferry booking is only Japanese pages,
so don't know whether reply will definitely come even if asked questions by e-mail in English.

The Matsuwan ferry page says:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /php.cgi/jikoku.html on this server.

When opening it....

From my computer (iMac OSX 10.13.2, Safari 11.0.2) I can see the web site. Perhaps it is not their server by itself but your terminal which has some problem. Can you use another terminal (computor or smartphone)?

That's odd. The Sii line page worked fine at work, but at home it does not. The other page does not on either places.

I will try my smartphone.

One possibility is that the page denies the access from abroad. If someone abroad can access to this page, this possibility can be ruled out.

@frog
I had no idea that there could be webpages that you can only access from certain countries. I tried from the Netherlands and was NOT able to open Mutsuwan ferry on my iPhone. Not sure if this helps.

Maybe the OP can just ask what he/she wants to know about the timetable and someone who can open the page can give him/her that piece of information.

Thank you LikeBike.

I tried with my iPhone (from Japan) and can open the Mutsuwan ferry timetable. Therefore this site might block the access from abroad. I searched the web and found that there is some way to block the access from abroad. I am not familiar with the IT technology so I don't know how this happens though.

To the OP, please write what you want to know.

Teach 4 ways you can solve by yourself.

1) Write it here, "Would you like to paste Screen Shot?"
However, you lost this right only to me,
bc you did not write words of thanks for our replys in the first.

2) Use Google.
Search by "URL" of answer and open "cache".
However, I have not tried other search engines.

3) Use Google Translate.
Even if there is an "IP block", there is a possibility of reading the "original".
However, I have not tried other translate service web.

4) Find "poxy".
There are few it in Japan, but it is NOT zero.
However, knowledge is necessary so you have to learn
about "what is it?" and "how to use it" first.
However, this method can not be used for a long time. It is easy to learn why if you study.

And, some other easy methods exist,
but it means only bothers someone's hands, try it when you can not notice it.

I did not want to do this.

You may know her lines that it does not mean "call is the fastest way".

Thank you for your help. I managed to use a proxy as you mentioned and now it worked.

I have never seen before the blockage of IP addresses from abroad so I kept thinking it was closed down or so.
