It's been a couple of decades since I was a semi-frequent traveler to the islands and beaches of Okinawa, but I don't remember being bothered by wind. I once even slept on a balcony at a hotel with a beach.
What month are you planning to visit there? When and where did you suffer from the wind last time?

I've been to a beach resort in Okinawa in March and had no problem with wind. Don't worry about it.
